Sohni Dharti Points: Redeem Them Before 30 June 2027 (SDRP Is Ending)

By · Updated · 5 min read

✔ Last verified: · Checked against: Allied Bank SDRP notice citing SBP directive EPD/FCA&RD/2026/1176854 (read 25 Oct 2026); Dawn and Business Recorder reports of the SBP circular (3 Jul 2026); SBP EPD Circular Letter No. 12 of 2026 (TTCIS); SBP press release on Pasban, 25 Sep 2026. The SBP SDRP circular text itself was not found online.
Quick answer
The Sohni Dharti Remittance Program (SDRP) is ending. No new reward points are given for remittances made from 1 July 2026. Points earned on transfers up to 30 June 2026 can still be viewed and redeemed in the SDRP app until 30 June 2027. After that, the scheme stops completely. So open the app now, check your balance, and use your points well before the deadline. Sending money home through banks is still free for eligible transfers, and the new Pasban prize draw rewards the people who receive remittances.

For years, overseas Pakistanis who sent money home through banks earned Sohni Dharti reward points. You could spend those points on some government services in Pakistan, free of cost.

That is now ending. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has wound the scheme down. If you have points, you have a deadline. This guide gives the dates, explains what happens to your points, and shows what is in place now.

Key dates

DateWhat happens
Up to 30 June 2026Eligible remittances still earn points. Banks report them to 1LINK so the points are added.
From 1 July 2026No new points are awarded, however much you send.
Until 30 June 2027You can view and redeem points you already earned.
From 1 July 2027SDRP becomes "completely non-functional". Unused points are expected to be lost.

These dates come from Allied Bank's SDRP notice, which cites SBP directive EPD/FCA&RD/2026/1176854, and from Dawn and Business Recorder reports quoting the SBP circular on 3 July 2026.

What was Sohni Dharti?

SDRP was a points-based loyalty scheme. It rewarded remitters for using banks and exchange companies instead of hundi or hawala. Your points showed as a virtual card in the SDRP mobile app. The card updated after each remittance.

You earned more as you sent more in a fiscal year (July to June). Allied Bank lists the tiers like this:

TierSent in one fiscal yearPoints earned
GreenUp to USD 10,0001.00% of the amount
GoldUSD 10,001 to 30,0001.25%
PlatinumUSD 30,001 to 50,0001.50%
DiamondMore than USD 50,0001.75%

Points were worked out on the rupee value of each remittance. We could not find an official statement of how many rupees one point is worth, so we do not give a figure here.

The tiers are history now. FY2025-26 (July 2025 to June 2026) was the last year that earned points.

What to do with your points now

  1. Open the SDRP app and sign in. Check your points balance on the virtual card.
  2. Check your last transfers. Remittances up to 30 June 2026 should have been reported to 1LINK. If a transfer from before that date is missing, ask the bank that paid it out.
  3. See where you can redeem. The app lists the public bodies that accept points. Partners can change, so check inside the app rather than relying on old lists.
  4. Redeem early. Do not wait for June 2027. Apps and partner systems can be slow near a deadline.
  5. Keep screenshots of your balance and each redemption, in case there is a dispute later.

Can't get into the app? We could not confirm whether the app still works for everyone or is still in the app stores. SBP's old Sohni Dharti web pages now show only the general SBP site. Contact your bank first. Allied Bank lists sdrp@sbp.org.pk for queries.

Why did SBP end it?

SBP did not give a public reason in the text we could read. Dawn reported that SBP also ended the Telegraphic Transfer Charges Incentive Scheme (TTCIS) at the same time. Dawn's sources said the cost of these incentives had grown large and had drawn the IMF's attention. That is a news report, not an SBP statement.

Is sending money home still free?

Yes, for eligible transfers. SBP ended TTCIS from 1 July 2026 in EPD Circular Letter No. 12 of 2026. But the same letter tells banks to keep the scheme going at their own end. Banks must keep home remittances that meet the old criteria free of cost for both the sender and the receiver. Under EPD Circular Letter No. 04 of 2025, that meant transfers of USD 200 or more, up to five a month from one sender to the same receiver through the same overseas partner.

So the free transfer stays. The difference is that banks, not SBP, now pay for it. Our exchange rates guide explains how to compare the rate you get, which matters more than the fee.

What replaces it: Pasban prize draws

The main new scheme is the Pasban Remittance Reward Scheme, launched on 25 September 2026. Banks run it through the Pakistan Banks Association (PBA). It works very differently from Sohni Dharti:

Sohni Dharti (ended)Pasban (new)
Who benefitsThe sender (remitter)The receiver in Pakistan
RewardPoints for free servicesEntries into cash prize draws
How you qualifySend through formal channelsReceive at least USD 100 each month, three months in a row in a quarter, into a bank account
ScaleUp to 1.75% in pointsOne entry per USD 100. 2,521 prizes worth Rs4 billion each quarter
Cost to joinFreeFree

The first Pasban draw is on 15 January 2027. It covers money received from 1 October to 31 December 2026. Results will be posted on 1LINK's Pasban page.

If your family gets money in a JazzCash or Easypaisa wallet, read the Pasban section of our wallet transfer guide. It is not yet clear whether a wallet counts as "a bank account" for the draw.

The PBA also said Pasban builds on a remitter incentive that banks have funded since July 2026. We could not find the per-transfer terms of that incentive in an official document.

What we could not confirm

  • The SBP circular itself. We could not find the SDRP circular on SBP's website. The dates above come from Allied Bank's notice, which quotes the SBP reference, and from two newspapers. They all agree.
  • Point value. How many rupees one point is worth when you redeem.
  • Redemption partners. Which government bodies still accept points today.
  • The app. Whether it is still available and working for all users.
  • The bank remitter incentive. Its exact terms since July 2026.

If something here does not match what you see in the app, trust the app and your bank, and tell us so we can update this page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Sohni Dharti Remittance Program still running?

Only for redemptions. No new points are awarded for remittances from 1 July 2026. Points earned on transfers up to 30 June 2026 can be redeemed until 30 June 2027. After that, SDRP stops completely.

What happens to my Sohni Dharti points after 30 June 2027?

SDRP becomes non-functional from 1 July 2027, so unused points are expected to be lost. Redeem them well before the deadline.

Will I get points for money I send now?

No. Remittances processed from 1 July 2026 do not earn Sohni Dharti points.

Is sending money to Pakistan through a bank still free?

For eligible transfers, yes. SBP ended TTCIS on 1 July 2026, but EPD Circular Letter No. 12 of 2026 tells banks to keep qualifying home remittances free for senders and receivers.

What is the Pasban scheme?

A prize draw for people in Pakistan who receive remittances. They need at least USD 100 each month for three months in a row in a quarter, into a bank account. Each USD 100 is one entry. The first draw is on 15 January 2027.

How much is one Sohni Dharti point worth?

We could not find an official figure. Points were calculated as a percentage of the rupee value of each remittance. Check the value shown in the SDRP app before you redeem.
