How to Send Money to JazzCash or Easypaisa From Abroad (2026)
Not everyone back home has a bank account. But almost everyone has a phone. That is why many overseas Pakistanis now send money straight to a JazzCash or Easypaisa wallet. It is fast, and your family can cash out at a shop down the road.
This guide covers how it works, the limits set by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the wallets, and what to check before you send. We only use official SBP pages and the wallets' own pages. Where we could not confirm something, we say so.
Who runs these wallets?
Both are regulated bank accounts, not just phone apps.
- JazzCash accounts are run by Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited (MMBL), according to the JazzCash terms and conditions.
- Easypaisa is run by easypaisa digital bank, according to its website.
SBP's Branchless Banking Regulations say these "branchless banking" accounts can receive home remittances, subject to the law.
JazzCash vs Easypaisa: how the money arrives
| JazzCash | Easypaisa | |
|---|---|---|
| How you send | Visit an exchange house or use a partner app, choose Pakistan, then choose JazzCash | Send through one of Bank Alfalah's remittance partners |
| How it is received | Credited to the wallet | The receiver may need to enter a secret code in their Easypaisa account |
| Speed | "Typically credited instantly." Some transfers go through anti-money-laundering checks, which can take up to 2 days | Described as "convenient, faster and secure". No time is given |
| Fees mentioned | Up to 2 free ATM withdrawals a month with a JazzCash ATM card, in the month the money arrives. Standard charges at retail shops | "No hidden charges" |
| Helpline | 051-111-124-444 (24/7), or 4444 from a Jazz number | 3737 from Telenor, or 042-111-003737 from other networks |
Neither page lists all the partners by name. Check that your app or exchange house shows "JazzCash" or "Easypaisa" as a payout option for Pakistan before you pay.
Step by step
Your family in Pakistan
- Open a wallet in their own name with their own CNIC.
- Complete biometric verification. Under SBP rules, a basic Level 0 account cannot cash in or cash out until biometric verification is done.
- Check their account level and limits in the app or with the helpline.
- Send you the exact name on the CNIC and the wallet mobile number.
You, abroad
- Pick a licensed remittance app or exchange house that pays out to JazzCash or Easypaisa.
- Enter the receiver's name exactly as it is on the CNIC, plus the wallet number.
- Compare how many rupees will arrive, not just the fee. Our exchange rates guide explains how.
- Keep the transaction reference. For Easypaisa, share the secret code only with the receiver.
SBP rules say every home remittance must carry the sender's name and the receiver's name, with an account number or a unique reference. So make sure the name you type matches the receiver's CNIC.
Limits: the part most people miss
Wallets have daily, monthly and yearly limits. If a transfer goes over the limit, it may not land. Here is what the official sources say.
| Account | Daily | Monthly | Max balance | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 0 (basic) | Rs25,000 | Rs50,000 | Rs200,000 | SBP regulations 2019; JazzCash T&C (same) |
| Level 1 (SBP rule) | Rs50,000 | Rs200,000 | Not set in the table | SBP regulations 2019 |
| Level 1 (JazzCash's own table) | Rs100,000 | Rs300,000 | Rs1,000,000 | JazzCash T&C |
| Asaan Digital Remittance Account (JazzCash) | Rs1,000,000 credit | Rs3,000,000 credit | Rs3,000,000 | JazzCash T&C |
Two Level 1 figures. JazzCash's table is higher than the 2019 SBP figures. We could not find the SBP notice that raised them. Ask your wallet for your current limit before sending a large amount.
The special remittance account (HRA)
SBP has a separate wallet account just for money from abroad. It is called the Home Remittance Account (HRA). Under the 2019 rules:
- It is a sub-account of a mobile wallet. Only money from abroad can go into it.
- There is no daily limit on money coming in, but the balance cannot go above Rs1,500,000.
- Cash withdrawal is up to Rs500,000 a month, at an agent, by home delivery after biometric check, or at a branch.
- Only Pakistani nationals can open one. One HRA per CNIC per bank.
- No opening deposit and no minimum balance.
- Existing wallet users register once. They give the expected senders, their relationship, and the countries the money will come from. If they register through the app, they must visit an agent once before any withdrawal.
We did not find a JazzCash or Easypaisa page naming its HRA product. Ask the helpline if your family should register one.
The Asaan Digital Remittance Account (ADRA)
SBP also allows an ADRA, opened online by resident Pakistanis. SBP's framework sets a Rs3,000,000 maximum balance, Rs500,000 a day cash withdrawal, Rs500,000 a day transfers out, and up to Rs1,000,000 a month of local (non-remittance) money. No business remittances are allowed. JazzCash lists an ADRA in its app menu.
Is it free?
Until 30 June 2026, SBP paid banks, microfinance banks and exchange companies to keep remittances of USD 200 or more free for both sides. Up to five free transfers a month from one sender to the same receiver through the same overseas partner counted. That scheme (TTCIS) ended on 1 July 2026. SBP told banks (Authorized Dealers) to keep eligible remittances free anyway. Our exchange rates guide has the details.
The 2026 letter puts that duty on Authorized Dealers. It was also sent to microfinance banks, which run these wallets. But it does not say in words that microfinance banks must keep remittances free. So check the fee in your app before you send.
Pasban prize draws and wallets
SBP launched the Pasban Remittance Reward Scheme on 25 September 2026. The receiver gets one entry for every USD 100, if they receive at least USD 100 each month for three months in a row in a quarter. The first draw is on 15 January 2027. It came after the Sohni Dharti points scheme stopped giving new points on 1 July 2026. If you still have Sohni Dharti points, our guide to redeeming them before 30 June 2027 explains the deadline.
The press release says the money must arrive "into a bank account". It does not mention wallets. We could not confirm whether JazzCash or Easypaisa remittances count. If the draw matters to you, ask the wallet's helpline, or send to a bank account instead. Our Roshan Digital Account guide covers bank options for overseas Pakistanis.
Things a wallet cannot do
- Send money abroad. SBP rules do not allow cross-border outward remittances from branchless banking accounts.
- Take business payments as "home remittance". ADRA rules ban commercial remittances.
- Replace a declared cash carry. If you are flying home with cash instead, see our cash limit guide.
Safety tips
- Use only licensed channels. Hundi and hawala give you no protection.
- Never share the wallet PIN (MPIN) or any OTP with anyone, even someone who says they are calling from the wallet company.
- If money does not arrive, first ask the remittance company for the status. Then call the wallet helpline with the reference number.
What we could not confirm
- Level 1 limits. JazzCash shows Rs100,000 a day and Rs300,000 a month. SBP's 2019 rules show Rs50,000 and Rs200,000. We did not find the SBP notice behind the higher figures. JazzCash's remittance page also shows a different Level 1 table from its own T&C.
- Easypaisa limits and steps. Easypaisa's website was down when we checked on 23 October 2026. Its remittance details here come from an archived copy dated 15 February 2026.
- Fees after July 2026. Whether microfinance-bank wallets must keep remittances free now that TTCIS has ended.
- Pasban. Whether a wallet counts as "a bank account" for the draw.
- Partner lists. Which apps and exchange houses pay out to each wallet today.
- Cash-out charges. Agent cash-out fees are in each wallet's schedule of charges. We did not check those.
- HRA tagging. Whether remittances are kept separate from normal wallet limits automatically.
This guide explains the rules. It is not financial or legal advice. The wallet provider and SBP make the final decision. Last checked 23 October 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send money from Dubai or Saudi Arabia to JazzCash?
Yes. JazzCash says you can visit an exchange house or use a partner app, select Pakistan, choose JazzCash, and the money goes to the wallet. It says funds are usually credited instantly, but some transfers face anti-money-laundering checks that can take up to 2 days.
How does Easypaisa receive money from abroad?
Easypaisa says it receives remittances through Bank Alfalah partners, and the receiver may need to enter a secret code in their Easypaisa account. Its helpline is 3737 from Telenor or 042-111-003737 from other networks.
What is the maximum I can send to a JazzCash wallet?
It depends on the receiver's account level. JazzCash lists Rs25,000 a day for Level 0, Rs100,000 a day for Level 1, and Rs1,000,000 a day of credits for its Asaan Digital Remittance Account. SBP's 2019 rules show lower Level 1 limits, so confirm the current limit with JazzCash first.
Is sending money to a mobile wallet free?
Not guaranteed. SBP told banks to keep remittances of USD 200 or more free after the TTCIS scheme ended on 1 July 2026. That duty is placed on Authorized Dealers, and we could not confirm it covers microfinance-bank wallets. Check the fee in your app before sending.
Does money sent to JazzCash or Easypaisa count for the Pasban prize draw?
We could not confirm this. SBP's press release says the remittance must be received "into a bank account" and does not mention wallets. Ask the wallet helpline, or send to a bank account if the draw matters to you.
Can my family send money back to me abroad from their wallet?
No. SBP's Branchless Banking Regulations do not allow cross-border outward remittances from branchless banking accounts.
